Small Progress on the Artist's Way

So despite being bed bound, I did some work on my Artist's Way journey. I have been stuck between week 8 and 9 now for a while, and I can't remember when my last Artist's Date took place, probably August. I think I will have to start the book again when I have a bit more stability in life. Right now I am in the middle of huge transitions in my personal and professional life. The Artist's Way has helped he understand certain things and so forth, but I don't feel I can really focus down on it right now. Eventually I will. I will keep going and try and finish the course in about three weeks, and accept this is something I need to revisit one day, in a few months time. It would also be good to be in a stronger place to deal with some of the themes which come up.

Stuck on the Artist's Way

It is Sunday. I am going over some courses, some past YALP hand outs, some processing of pain and loss. I added my two pence on the moodle course discussion. I have lost that sense of centred silence, but I am meditating in the Buddhist tradition again. I have calmed down, after the anger comes the sadness and wishing things had been different. I decided to work on finding a place of non judgement for all the painful things that have recently happened to me. It is going to take a lot of work. I am now waiting for it to pass, for the heart to heal. It is a waiting game. To come to terms, to come to acceptance that this is how things are now. A part of me was shocked into realising that of course I could be hurt and heart broken all over again. of course I could be horribly mangled by love all over again. It is sad, but I will be in love, and I will be heart broken time and time again, there is no escape from this cycle, though perhaps some people will hurt us more than others. ...

The Freud Museum

  I did not want to go to the Freud Museum. I did not imagine I would actually kind of push myself to go on a sleepy Saturday, as some strange attempt at feeding my creative artistic inner child. Off I went, all the same. I was immersed for a good two and a half hours in the world of a intellectual I have had little if no interest in. I suppose we have to keep open minds. Parts of the museum I really enjoyed were the exhibits on child psychology and Anna Freud, who was a teacher before following in her father's foot steps to become a psychoanalyst. Apparently she was analysed by her own father, which is quite a strange thought. How would that work out exactly? I also enjoyed standing in Freud's study and studying his great collection of ancient relics. It put me in mind of my little rock collect which is in it's early stages (the childhood one being probably missing somewhere), and of my own interest in archaeology as a child.
